Heartfelt Impressions is excited to celebrate the Week of the Young Child®!
Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to recognize the importance of early childhood education and honor the work of early childhood educators, families, and communities in supporting young children’s learning and development. Held each April, this special week highlights the needs of young children and the critical role that high-quality early learning plays in their future success. Each day, we celebrate with a different theme – beginning with Music Monday! #WOYC25
CELEBRATE THE POWER OF MUSIC
Join us for a day filled with rhythm, song, and fun as we kick off Week of the Young Child with Music Monday! Music is a wonderful way to connect, express creativity, and build early learning skills – all while having fun! Try some of these activities at home!

FAMILY JAM SESSION
Grab some pots, pans, spoons, or real instruments – whatever you have! Make music together as a family. Take turns being the “band leader” and try different rhythms and beats.

DANCE PARTY
Put on your child’s favorite songs and have a dance party in your living room. Moving to music builds motor skills and boosts mood and confidence. Give your child a chance to lead the dance, copying their movements!

DIY INSTRUMENTS
Create homemade instruments! You can:
- Use items from around the house. Bang on pots and pans, or use buckets and drums.
- Make your own instruments! Try filling plastic eggs with rice for shakers, or stretching rubber bands over a box for a simple guitar.
Encourage your child to play their own music, or play along with rhythmic music.

SING ALONG
Turn parts of your daily routine into musical moments. Sing a “clean up song” or make up silly songs while brushing your teeth, or getting dressed.

MUSICAL STORY TIME
Choose a book with rhyming or rhythmic text and sing the words instead of reading them! Add hand motions or sounds for extra fun.
