Heartfelt Impressions Celebrates Week of the Young Child® with Artsy Thursday

Heartfelt Impressions is excited to celebrate the Week of the Young Child®!

Week of the Young Child is an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) to recognize the importance of early childhood education and honor the work of early childhood educators, families, and communities in supporting young children’s learning and development. Held each April, this special week highlights the needs of young children and the critical role that high-quality early learning plays in their future success.  Each day, we celebrate with a different theme – creating art using different materials and our bodies for Artsy Thursday! #WOYC25

UNLEASH YOUR CHILD'S CREATIVITY

It’s time to paint, draw, sculpt, and imagine! Week of the Young Child’s Artsy Thursday celebrates the joy of creativity and self-expression. Art helps children build fine motor skills, explore emotions, and express themselves in unique and beautiful ways.

NATURE WALK & ART ADVENTURES

Begin by going on a nature walk! Take a walk and collect leaves, sticks, rocks, or flowers. Talk with your child about the different things they notice about what they collect – the color, shape, texture, etc.

Use what they collect to:

  • Make leaf rubbings
  • Make nature collages by sticking materials on contact paper
  • Paint with natural items like pinecones or features

SIDEWALK CHALK GALLERY

Take your art outdoors! Create colorful masterpieces on the driveway or sidewalk and turn your yard into an open-air museum. Encourage them to draw their favorite animals to create a zoo, or things that make them smile!
