Celebrating Together at Our Thanksgiving Feast

There is something truly special about gathering around a table — sharing food, stories, and time together. This year, our Thanksgiving Feast was a beautiful reminder of how meaningful those moments can be.

We were thrilled to invite all of our families — both staff and children — to join us for a Thanksgiving meal prepared with love by our incredible chefs. The room was filled with smiling faces, full plates, and a strong sense of community as we celebrated together.

A Feast to Be Thankful For

Our chefs (special shout out to Ms. Ruth, Ms. Maddy, Ms. Val, Ms. Jessica, Ms. Miranda, and Ms. Robin) prepared a classic, comforting Thanksgiving meal that everyone could enjoy:

  • Turkey
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Stuffing
  • Corn
  • Warm rolls

To finish the meal on a sweet note, families enjoyed pie topped with whipped cream, along with allergy-friendly options so every child and adult could safely participate. Sharing a meal like this allowed children to experience the joy of tradition while feeling included and cared for — something we value deeply.

Bringing Thanksgiving Learning Home

Thanksgiving is a wonderful opportunity to slow down, connect, and create simple traditions at home. Even the youngest children can participate in meaningful, age-appropriate activities that build important skills.

Easy Thanksgiving Activities for Children

At this age, learning happens through the senses and relationships.

Try These at Home:

  • Touch-and-Feel Thanksgiving Tray: Offer safe items like a soft cloth napkin, a smooth wooden spoon, or a small pumpkin to explore.
  • Thankful Talk: Name things you’re thankful for while holding or pointing to familiar objects. “I’m thankful for you.”
  • Sensory Food Play: Let children explore textures like mashed potatoes or rolls with their hands during meals (when appropriate).
  • Set the Table Together: Let your child help place napkins or rolls — a great way to practice responsibility.
  • Pretend Thanksgiving Feast: Use play food or toys to recreate the meal and retell the experience.

What Children Learn:

  • Sensory awareness and exploration
  • Early language development
  • Emotional connection through shared routines

The Learning Behind Thanksgiving Traditions

Simple Thanksgiving activities support development across all areas:

  • Social-Emotional Growth: Children learn about gratitude, belonging, and community.
  • Language Development: Conversations during meals build vocabulary and communication skills.
  • Cognitive Skills: Talking about traditions and routines helps children understand time, sequence, and culture.
  • Independence & Confidence: Helping prepare or serve food gives children a sense of responsibility and pride.

A Heartfelt Thank You

Our Thanksgiving Feast was more than just a meal — it was a celebration of togetherness, inclusion, and gratitude. We are so thankful for our families, our staff, and the opportunity to gather as a community to share food, laughter, and connection.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this day so special. We look forward to creating many more Heartfelt Happenings together.
