What will they learn in Developmental Kindergarten?
Developmental Kindergarten is a Program that allows children to grow at their own pace in an environment that is suited for them! We meet each child where they are and help them succeed and move to the next level. Here in DK, we base our curriculum on the Michigan Department of Education kindergarten standards. We use open-ended, play-based learning to teach and prepare them for kindergarten.
In DK you can expect your child to learn:
• Language and Literacy
• Math
• Science
• Social studies
• Fine motor skills
• Gross motor skills
• Social emotional skills
• Problem solving skills
• Conflict resolution
• Visual arts
• Dramatic play
• Routine
Who’s a good fit for DK?
How do you know if your child is a good fit for our DK program? If your child will turn five before December 1st and could use an extra year to gain more social skills, learn classroom routines in a smaller class size with more individualized lessons, this program is the perfect fit! We are here to give your child a year filled with fun, learning and new experiences all while preparing them for success in their education.

About the teacher:
Hi, my name is Alexis Bowler, and this is my second year teaching Developmental Kindergarten at Heartfelt Impressions. I have been with the company for 8 years and in the field of early childhood education for 10 years. Working with children has always been my passion and it’s surreal that I am living out my dream right here in my hometown. Some people say why teach? I teach because I want to make a difference in the lives of children and want to help shape the future through children. If we show them love, offer support, give them tools to be successful, pick them up when they fall and guide them in the right direction, we have helped them and given them the tools for success. That is why I teach!
